The baby is coming, and the suspense and the expectation are killing you. You are happy, ecstatic and terrified at the same time, and you want to do the best job possible with creating the perfect environment for your young one to enjoy once it is finally home.
It is important to make all the necessary preparations for the baby because it will make it easier for you to take care of it in those first couple of months that are the most demanding.
The other reason is the peace of mind that will come with the fact that you have done everything you could to make the whole situation a lot easier.
Prepare the room
The first thing that comes to mind is the room in which the baby will sleep and dwell. This room needs to be separate from your own room, but you need to be able to enter it easily. The best is to make room next to yours with doors that lead directly to the baby’s room.
You will need a bed for your baby, a closet for all the baby stuff and one of those baby monitors so that you can react instantly once the precious little dictator is up and hungry or just needs a new diaper. Make sure that you have a surface in that room on which you can dress the baby, feed it and the like.
Diapers and towels, together with the other hygiene products you use on the baby, should find their place in the baby’s room. Also, bring in a comfy armchair for feeding time and simply times when you want to sit there and watch the little angel sleep.
Prepare the kitchen
First reason to prepare the kitchen will be for you, as you will scarcely have the time to prepare those big and amazing meals. Also, as soon as your baby starts to eat solid food, you will use those food processors, blenders and mixers a lot more than before.
With that in mind, make sure that your kitchen gets a couple of tweaks before the baby comes. Remove all the appliances that will not be useful to you in the following couple of months, and install all those appliances that will help you sterilize the bottles, warm the milk and prepare a quick snack for yourself.
Prepare the bathroom
The bathroom will get a new look as well. From now on, it becomes a place in which you need to bathe, but also the place in which you need to bathe your baby, wash its clothes, dress it, and the like.
Therefore, make sure that you have all the necessary equipment for doing so and that all the things you don’t need any more are removed from your bathroom. All those hair brushes, hair irons and other appliances will find their way in your bedroom or a simple box.
Make sure that the tub for bathing is clean and that there are no blocked drains. Call plumbers to check the pipes because you don’t need that kind of surprise when you need to clean your baby daily.
Clean the home
While your baby needs to develop a strong immune system, you also need to make sure that the home is as clean as possible, as you don’t want to be dealing with infections while adapting to the fact that you live with a baby now. Therefore, make sure that the home is as clean as possible.
The best and healthiest way to do this is to clean your home with one of those steam cleaners, as they use minimum chemicals that can irritate the skin and respiratory organs, but with the maximum of effects. Bacteria and viruses generally don’t stand high temperatures, and the steam kills them all.
Besides preparing your home for the baby, you also need to make a couple of preparations of another kind. The first thing to do is to find a pediatrician who has a good name and who is not more than half an hour drive away from your home.
This way, you will be sure that any health emergency will be taken care of as fast as possible and that your kid will have proper care.
