Deciding what to do with your life and career is a difficult decision that many assume involves completing years of schooling, paying tuition money, and fighting indecision.
But it doesn’t have to be like that. There are many well-paying careers that require nothing more than a generic certificate qualifying an individual for the job.
In this article we’ve compiled a list of the top four certificate-only careers.
Pharmacy technician
The job of a pharmacy technician is to assist a licensed pharmacist. Pharmacy technicians are responsible for keeping accurate patient records, order inventory, make transactions, prepare prescriptions for patients, and generally assist the pharmacist.
Certification involves completing a GED or equivalent, completing required coursework, and passing the certification exam. In compensation for their efforts, pharmacy technicians are paid a yearly salary of around $30,000.

Dental hygienist
Like pharmacy technicians, dental hygienists are paid to assist medical professionals. They are required to perform a good deal of the grunt work within dental offices. This includes tasks like teeth cleaning, taking x-rays, and preparing patients to meet with the dental professional.
Getting a certificate as a dental assistant takes just a year to complete. From there, dental hygienists can earn a solid wage, with the top percentage of hygienists earning more than $50,000 a year.
Registered nurse
If you are interested in a position in the medical field but aren’t interested in extensive schooling, becoming a registered nurse could be the job for you. Earning a certificate as a nurse generally takes less than two years.
Once the certification has been completed, nurses can enjoy a rewarding career taking care of patients and assisting doctors. The expected job growth for nurses in the next ten years is extraordinary with a 22% increase. Meanwhile, current nurses are earning a median salary of $66,530.
Bookkeeper
If you are not sure what field you want to go into, bookkeeping is an excellent choice that will keep your options open because bookkeepers are a much needed position within every field.
About two years of higher education will qualify you to be a licensed bookkeeper. Then, you will be prepared to complete accounting tasks, manage business software, and ensure a company’s finances are in order.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that a lengthy degree is required for a good career. Many careers only require a certificate which can often be obtained in less than a year. A little bit of education can go a long way if you choose the right career path.
