Everything You Need for Starting a Dance Studio

February 10, 2014 by CMO Contributor Leave a Comment

If you love the art of dance, then you may be considering opening your own dance studio. While there is a great deal to be done in the opening of any business, there are a few things you must do to just get your dance studio idea off the ground.

Find a proper building

You aren’t going to be able to run a successful dance studio in just any little commercial building. Take your time and find a good studio that fits your needs. Depending on what kind of dance you plan to teach, you must consider the flooring already in the building, or be sure you will be able to place the type of flooring you need in each room.

You will need tall ceilings for appropriate placement of floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Large rooms will also no doubt be an asset. Be sure you also take care in your selection of where your studio is located. While it is tempting to save money, your students will not want to come to a bad part of town for their lessons.

You need to be able to offer a safe location with plenty of outside lighting in front of the building and in the parking lot.

Hire skilled instructors

While you may love dance, you may not be qualified to teach each and every method. Be sure the teachers you hire are highly skilled in their area of dance, and can effectively teach your students. Do background checks, and be sure to actually call their references. You may want to start with a very small staff, and add new teachers as your business grows.

Obtain the financing needed

No business gets its start without good solid financial backing. You will need money for various things before you can get started. You should make sure you have funds to obtain your building, insurance, advertising, dance items to be placed in the studio, and many other items that might come up.

You may consider seeking a loan from your personal banking institution. If you would prefer an instant loan without all the paperwork needed at your local bank, you may consider a quick payday loans for business.

Gather your students

Get the word out through advertising and word of mouth. Try offering a few free lessons to draw in new customers. This will enable you to show what you have to offer and may lead to many students becoming paying customers.

These are just a few tips to help you get started on your journey to owning your own dance studio. If this is what you love to do, you will no doubt be successful.
