With the constant threats of aging, cancer, diabetes, obesity and other ailments, we are more conscious than ever of living healthier lifestyles. As we continue to explore and discover new ways of healthy living, the more people think that it is expensive.
However, that is really a marketing ploy and a myth as there are many ways to lead healthy lifestyles without breaking the bank. By being as healthy as you possibly can, you increase the chances of living a longer life and having a less expensive life insurance policy as well.
Medical care bills
Life insurance is practically mandatory today because not only are people dying from terminal illnesses, such as various types of cancers but preventable diseases as well.
By not eating healthy foods or engaging in an active, low-stress lifestyle, you can find yourself going to the doctor more frequently or even needing emergency care. Frequent hospital visits typically equates to high medical care costs and higher life insurance costs as well.
Medications are costly
In fact, many people today are over-medicated and are taking pills on a daily basis just to get by. It can be quite costly to have to purchase multiple medications just to live, especially for preventable or reversible ailments.
Sometimes, simple issues such as headaches can be reduced by getting more sleep or drinking more water, which does not cost much versus swallowing a bunch of pills every few hours for days or weeks on end.
Smoking is expensive
Have you ever noticed when applying for health or life insurance, one of the questions is, do you smoke? Not only is it expensive to buy packs of cigarettes on a regularly basis, especially for those who maintain this as a daily habit, but it can also increase your life insurance costs as well.
Obviously, not smoking is healthier on your body, wallet, and insurance costs as well.
Active lifestyle
It’s easy to get caught up in the latest fitness craze or viral infomercial for the hottest 60-day workout program. However, those are additional expenses that you do not need to invest in to create a healthy lifestyle.
All you need is a good pair of shoes for a walk, hike or run outside. There are also tons of free workouts available on YouTube or even on demand. Some life insurance companies even give discounts to those who have proof of improving their health by going to the gym.
