If there are people who work the hardest, love the best, care with an abandon and sacrifice the most, these would be our moms.
She marveled at your first step, made sure that you were always loved and taken care of. She even sacrificed some of the things she loved for your needs to be met. The things she has done for you will never be replaced by material things.
In exchange for the love and care she has given you, why not make her feel special on her birthday or surprise her on an ordinary day?
Here are a few ways to make your mom feel extra special:
Cook up her favorite meal
Remember when she forced you to eat your veggies and you smirked in disgust but you ate them anyway? She also reminded you how hotdogs are not real meals because processed foods are packed with too much salt and are not healthy for the body.
She would lovingly cook you the most sumptuous meal and made sure that this comes with a refreshing glass of juice. Why not return the favor and cook her favorite dish? Make this even more special by making sure that the dinner table is dressed up for a special occasion, like it’s Mother’s Day.
Call her when you’re in the office
Take a few minutes off work and call her using your smartphone through a VoIP service. Your mom would be touched if you showed her that office work is not enough to keep you from thinking of her. Ask her how her day was or tell her how much you love her.
Women in general like it when someone very dear to them express words of love. Actions may show her this, but words of love will compound the feeling even more.
Surprise her with a party
Why not throw a party for your mom? Invite her closest friends and your entire family. This will bring her happy memories that she is sure to remember the rest of her days.
Be sure to take a video footage or snap pictures so that when she is feeling lonely, she could just go over these and remember how happy she felt during the celebration.
If you can afford it, splurge on an expensive gift
You may not know it, but one time, your mother was looking through the window of one of the dress shops, wishing she could buy the little black dress worn by the mannequin. You parents, your mom especially, worked extra hard in providing for your education.
Now that you can provide for yourself, why don’t you set aside some of your hard-earned money to buy her a present? You may even recreate the moment when your dad proposed to her and presented her with an engagement ring by buying her a ring or any jewelry of some sort.
Give her your time
Do you remember your first boyfriend or girlfriend? How did your mom react? She reminded you not to rush things and walk through life a little bit slower, didn’t she?
She may not have told you directly, but when she saw that you now love another person, she feared that you were growing up too soon. Not only was she giving you advice then, she was comforting herself as well, hoping that your relationship with her won’t change.
Make sure she knows she is still in your heart by giving her your time. Give her a surprise visit and sleep over. Tell her about the things you do and ask her opinion. Asking her opinion sends the message that you still value her advice.
