A few hours back, I was poring through the pages of a broadsheet, and I couldn’t help but notice whenever one cares to look through the lifestyle section of a magazine or a newspaper, more often than not, everything is all about famous people, places, stuff.
Sometimes, it amazes me to no end, what is it about fame that people aspire to be famous, to be the talk of the town, to be the envy of their peers, sometimes even at the cost of everything they’ve worked so hard for?
- The adoration?
- The shrieking fans?
To be adored at one point or another can be heart-warming, that much I can understand. But to be stalked on a regular basis by paparazzi and people without any regard for your feelings is a different matter all together.
Lord Byron, English poet and satirist, defines fame as the advantage of being known by people you don’t know and for whom you care very little. A little too blunt, I suppose. But famous artists probably attest to the truth in this.
And along the lines of fame, I’m planning on a collection of popular books – mostly books turned into movies – one of these days. What do you think?
